An independent journal, built to earn trust

We started Plainsight Journal in 2018 on a simple belief: good information should be easy to find and easy to trust. Everything we publish is made to genuinely help the reader, not to fill a page.

A serene, well-organized indoor workspace with a journal, soft lamp, and greenery, reflecting the calm and considered way the journal is made.
Why we exist

Reading first, everything else second

So much wellbeing writing is built for search engines or for selling something. We wanted the opposite: a calm, grounded place where the answer comes first, the language is plain, and the page respects your attention.

We keep our scope narrow on purpose. Two threads, accessible living and self-awareness, covered with real research instead of recycled summaries. That focus is how the depth stays honest.

What we hold to

Four standards behind every piece

These are not slogans on a wall. They are the checklist a piece has to pass before it goes live.

Accuracy

We get the facts right and cite where it matters. If we are not sure, we say so.

Clarity

Plain language, answer first, no padding. Reading should feel lighter, not heavier.

Independence

Reader-first, never hype-first. We publish what helps, not what performs.

Usefulness

If a piece will not genuinely help you do something, we do not publish it.

The people behind it

A small team that actually replies

No content farm, no anonymous byline mill. A handful of people who research, check, and care about getting it right.

Mara Okafor

Founding editor

Mara started the journal on a simple belief: good information should be easy to find and easy to trust. She sets the standard every piece is held to.

Devin Tan

Research and fact-checking

Devin checks the claims, chases the primary sources, and flags anything that has quietly gone out of date before it reaches you.

Priya Kohl

Reader care

Got a question or a correction? Priya reads every message that comes in and makes sure a real person replies.

Our mission, in one sentence

To make the topics that matter to your wellbeing easy to find, easy to read, and worth your time, with no filler and no hype.
